Towards the end of the year the Emde Gallery will present a group exhibition with three artists.

Installations and sculptural objects by Theresa Lawrenz will be shown, as well as paintings by Ruben Brückel. What both artists have in common is that in their works they refer to the constructed environment, its structures and contexts. While Theresa Lawrenz often works site-specifically and examines the history and characteristics of a location, Ruben Brückel creates imaginary pictorial spaces with tempera, oil and spray paint, in which architectural details and fragments frequently appear.

The works of the two Mainz-based artists enter into dialogue with assemblages by New Zealand artist Thomas Newman Pound, of which a selection has already been shown in the group exhibition at the opening of the Emde Gallery. His assemblages presented here, consist of found objects and materials - such as wood fragments, paint chips, broken pieces of concrete or asphalt - which were found by the artist whilst wandering through abandoned industrial sites on the outskirts of Auckland city.
