Thomas Wunsch

Thomas Wunsch started working in the field of photography at the age of 17, when he moved to the USA and became a member of the Kodak Young Photographers League.
In 1980, back in Germany, he opened a photo studio in Hamburg and dedicated himself to fashion, still life and portrait photography. He took pictures of international stars such as Barbra Streisand, Yoko Ono, Dalai Lama, Ai WeiWei and many more.
In 1984, he returned to the USA where he worked for many years as a still photographer at a movie production company.
After returning to Germany again in 2000, he began creating abstract photographs – inspired by abstract painting.

The works of Thomas Wunsch are represented in numerous private and institutional collections and have been shown in numerous exhibitions worldwide, for example at the Huantie Times Art Museum in Beijing, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul and the Haus der Kunst in Munich. In addition, since 2001 they have been featured on over 70 LP and CD covers by the renowned German record label ECM for contemporary jazz and classical music.
