Unort-ism/non-place-ism

"Translation, intermediality, simultaneity and play. Finding a way to capture the state of being and making it comprehensible is a task that excites me. What lies between the things that can be known and how can this be located as space?

Starting from drawing and construction, I look for a red thread in everything. I paint as if I were drawing; build as if I were painting and write as if I were talking. It's about trying to act out one medium in the other and, if possible, finding a basic note that both have in common. When the ball pen is replaced by a jigsaw and a sheet of paper is replaced by a board, drawings can be made physically accessible and you yourself can become part of the picture. Similarities to translation processes and empathic movements emerge. A more generalist approach distracts me from working out minute details.

Rather, I work on all aspects of a work with equal importance. The canvas a painting is on, the wall a work hangs on, the paint on a sculpture and the space it is in are all materials I work with. They influence each other bidirectionally - so they are only really finished when the exhibition has taken place.

It is similar to when it comes to finding a title. Just as the painting base coat is usually there before the painting, a work can exist as a word before it is even finished. It can also be created without any naming at all; the actual title then emerges in conversation. In the catalogue it is then called what it looks like. Associations triggered in people looking at the work come into focus as further material of the work. Mistranslations and changing interpretive sovereignties feast on the negotiability of reality. So it is also about what is written between the lines. From the misunderstandings and agreements that arise in this way, an intersection emerges that seems to me like a red thread."
